Why observing nature is an important activity for any artist? It brings you closer to the colours in nature, it displays the contrast, the complimentary arrangement and the shades.
If I ever wondered how many shades of green are there, just look out the train window, as you pass you will see every shade you possibly could. The dark green, the light green, the green with the grey shade, the fluorescent green, the pastel green .... it's the natures why of teaching you how to paint. The brown of the trunk, the grey of the soil, the red of the flowers. Talking of flowers they are the true abstracts of the world, their shape, how did they get that shape, where did they get their colour. How did they blend the dary and light colour at the same time, how did they achieve the transition. Obvious this is not a new concept where you look at the object and draw or paint, it has been practised by many. But the essence is when you get the flash of understanding what they all are talking about. That gives you the pleasure the dopamine, the thrill, the clarity. I look at plants, they look at me, they notice me and I notice them. I am learning and I am watching.... and getting ignited
